Client v. Defendant Driver
In November of 2010, Wendt Goss, P.C. confidentially settled a case involving a motor vehicle collision in Johnson County, Kansas, one of the United States' most conservative jurisdictions, for $640,000.00. In the case, Client was traveling in Johnson County, Kansas when the Defendant Driver failed to yield the right of way, colliding with Client's vehicle. Wendt Goss, P.C. also uncovered evidence that Defendant Driver was talking on a cellular telephone at the time of the incident, which diverted attention from the roadway.
After the collision, police arrived on the scene and Client was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Client suffered several severe fractures and internal injuries, which required extensive medical treatment and therapy over the next several months. In total, Client incurred medical expenses in excess of $200,000.00.
Shortly after the collision, Client retained Wendt Goss, P.C. to pursue Defendant Driver to seek recovery for Client's injuries and medical expenses. Fortunately for Client, Defendant Driver maintained sufficient insurance liability limits to allow the $640,000.00 recovery. After mediation between the parties, Client decided to accept the settlement rather than proceed to trial in Johnson County District Court.
