Paola motorcyclist dies in crash with tractor

A 53-year-old Paola, Kan., man died today when his motorcycle collided with a tractor he was attempting to pass.

The motorcyclist was identified as Mitchell Ketzner. The accident was reported at 2:35 p.m. at 25870 Old Kansas City Road in Miami County.

Investigators with the sheriff’s department said Ketzner was northbound on a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle following the tractor when the motorcycle tried to pass on the left. The motorcycle collided with the side of the tractor.

A female passenger was taken to the Overland Park Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation.
