Six injured when truck crashes into St. Joseph convenience store

A pickup crashed through the front doors of a St. Joseph convenience store on Tuesday night, injuring six people.

According to a report by the St. Joseph News-Press, police received a call shortly after 9 p.m. that a man drove through the store near the intersection of St. Joseph and Highland Avenues.

“One person said he never hit the brakes, but that’s really all we know. He didn’t start from park, he apparently was driving into the parking lot and did not hit the brakes and went on through the front,” the News-Press quoted St. Joseph police Capt. Janice Rothganger as saying at the scene.

No one else was in the pickup, but five others who were in the store at the time — a man, two women and two children — were taken to a hospital for evaluation. The extent of their injuries was not known, the News-Press reported.
