Three die in fire at Rolla group home

ROLLA, Mo. | A woman and two children are dead and four people are injured after a fire at a south-central Missouri home where several developmentally disabled children lived.

The fire was reported around 9 a.m. today about two miles south of Rolla.

Mike Kirn of the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department said the house was a privately-run group home for about 14 people with developmental disabilities. He said the woman killed was the adult daughter of the group home owner. A 10-year-old girl and an infant also died.

The woman who owned and operated the home was among four people injured and taken to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. The hospital said the injured — one adult and three children — were treated and releas
