Woman critically hurt in crash at Independence and Elmwood in KC

A woman was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash about 6:20 p.m. on Independence Avenue near Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City police said.

An eastbound Ford Explorer struck a Chrysler Sebring, which was pulling out of a driveway. The critically injured woman was in the Sebring, which also carried an infant, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Explorer was injured but is expected to live.
