Woman killed after stepping in front of train

A 55-year-old Wellsville, Kan., woman was killed Sunday afternoon after she stepped in front of an oncoming train in Franklin County.

The train struck the woman about 2:30 p.m. along train tracks under Kansas 33 in Wellsville, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The woman was identified as Debra A. Nitcher.
