Norwood man dies in hit-and-run wreck

A Norwood man died Saturday, and a woman suffered serious injuries, as the result of a hit-and-run crash in Ozark County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, David Littrell, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident in which a pickup-bed trailer came loose from a vehicle and struck, head on, the 2004 Jeep Littrell was driving on Ozark County PP, 15 miles east of Gainesville.

The red pickup pulling the trailer fled the scene, according to the patrol report.

Nancy L. Littrell, 57, a passenger in the Jeep, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains and then transferred to St. John’s hospital in Springfield, the report said.

David and Nancy Littrell were both wearing seat belts, according to the report.

The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m., the report said.
