Two killed in Lafayette County crash

Two women were killed Monday evening in a head-on collision in Lafayette County.


According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 5 p.m. on Route O near Watershed Road when the driver of a southbound 2003 Chrysler crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2005 Ford.


Shalah McGinnis, 61, of Concordia, Mo., was identified as the driver of the Chrysler. McGinnis died at the scene.

Phyllis A. Slaughter of Lexington, a passenger in the Ford, also died at the scene, according to the highway patrol.


The driver of the Ford, Phillip E. Randle, 18, of Lexington, was taken to a hospital.


The accident remains under investigation.
