Two-vehicle accident at Wabash, Montvale injures one driver

A 53-year-old Springfield man’s vehicle was rear-ended Sunday by another vehicle heading west on Wabash Avenue near Montvale Drive.

Karl R. Becker of the 4600 block of Barrymore Drive said he was slowing for stopped traffic as he passed through the intersection.

Wesley A. Heaton, 25, of Chatham said he was behind Becker’s vehicle and was unable to stop before striking it.

Police said Becker complained of neck pain but declined treatment.

The incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
