Two vehicles collide in funeral procession

An accident between two vehicles that were traveling in a funeral procession near Martin Luther King Drive and Laurel Street about 1 p.m. Wednesday sent one person to the hospital.

A car driven by Ruth Hobles, 19, of the 1000 block of Community Drive rear-ended a vehicle driven by Alisha A. Brown, 18, of the 2200 block of East Monroe Street.

A passenger in Hobles’ vehicle, Cierra Walton, 20, of the 1900 block of Drive was treated and released from Memorial Medical Center.

Brown said she had to stop because the vehicle in front of her car stopped. Hobles was cited for speeding.
