Vehicle rear-ended on Jefferson Street

A driver who said he looked down to check his cell phone while he was driving west on Jefferson Street rear-ended a vehicle Wednesday morning.

Robert S. Damery, 63, of Taylorville said he could not stop in time and his car hit a vehicle stopped at a red light at Ninth Street and Jefferson.

Stacie A. Waters, 32, of the 1500 block of South Fourth Street, drove the vehicle hit by Damery’s vehicle.

The incident occurred at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
