Child injured when struck by vehicle in Independence

Independence police are investigating an incident this morning where a child was injured when struck by a vehicle.

The child was hit about 6:55 a.m. in the 500 block of North Ponca Drive.

The child was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital for treatment. The extent of the child's injuries was not immediately available.
