A Carthage woman was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash in Jasper County that injured five others.
A Missouri Highway Patrol report said Elvia Vicente, 24, died after she and three other people were ejected from the back of a 1999 Honda Civic that crossed the median on Missouri 249 a mile north of Duquesne and was struck by an oncoming 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager.
The report said an oncoming 1994 Freightliner then skidded and spun before striking the ejected passengers.
Vicente was pronounced dead at Freeman West hospital in Joplin at 2:52 p.m., about 30 minutes after the crash, the report said.
Also hospitalized with serious injuries were Ervin G. Mejiaramos, 2; Maria Ramospaxtor, 20; and the deceased woman's daughter, Anahi Vicente, age unknown, according to the report.
Ramospaxtor was taken to Freeman West while the children were taken to Childrens' Research hospital in Kansas City, the report said.
Hospitalized with moderate injuries were the driver of the Honda, Jamito Mejiagomez, and another passenger, Wilmer Gomespaxtor, both 21. They were taken to Freeman West, the report said.
The driver of the Chrysler, Mechell J. Calef, 40, of Webb City, and the driver of the Freightliner, David A. Davis, 49, of Alba, were not listed among the injured in the report.
