Pedestrian hit by train, expected to live

A pedestrian who was reportedly struck by a train Thursday evening is expected to live, the Kansas City Fire Department said.

Emergency responders were sent to the 8600 block of Northeast Underground Drive shortly before 5 p.m. on a report of a man hit by a train. That man, who was taken to a local hospital, was alert and talking to authorities, said Battalion Chief Joe Vitale, a fire department spokesman. The man's injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
