Pedestrian killed at Northland intersection

A 43-year-old Kansas City man was struck and killed by a vehicle at 71st Terrace and North Brighton Avenue on Thursday morning, police said.

The name of the victim has not been released. Police were called to the intersection just after 6 a.m.

According to initial reports, the victim had stopped his vehicle in the southbound lane and then got out. He was standing in the roadway when a passing northbound vehicle struck him. The driver told investigators he did not see the victim in time to stop.
