Man reportedly killed when struck by train
A man believed in his late teens or early 20s was reportedly killed early this morning when a train struck him in eastern Independence.
The incident occurred about 1:30 a.m. near the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant at Missouri 7 and Lake City Buckner Road.
The highway was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the incident. It was reopened by 6:25 a.m., according to Kansas City Scout.
Further details were not available from Independence police early this morning.
