Man sentenced for fatal crash involving PCP
A Kansas City man who was driving under the influence of drugs when he killed a 12-year-old boy last March was sentenced today to 34 years in prison.
Clayton R. Dunlap pleaded guilty last month in Jackson County Circuit Court to second-degree murder for causing the traffic crash that killed Damian Slayton of Independence.
Damien was in a car being driven by his mother when Dunlap, who was under the influence of PCP, crashed a sports utility vehicle into their car, which was stopped for a red light at Gregory Boulevard and U.S. 71.
Besides the murder charge, Dunlap, 31, pleaded guilty to assault, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated and driving without a valid license.
