Parents sue after St. Louis County woman falls at Costco store, dies

The parents of a south St. Louis County woman who died of a blood clot to the heart after injuring her knee during a slip on the floor at Costco have sued the warehouse store.

Herbert and Sharon Morris of Arnold filed the wrongful death suit this week in St. Louis County Circuit Court. Their daughter, Amber Morris, 39, visited the Costco store near Interstate 55 and Lindbergh Boulevard on April 22 and fell on a "slippery foreign substance" on the floor, according to the suit, and dislocated her kneecap.

She died May 6 of a blood clot to the heart.

The suit names Costco and store manager Kevin Boyd, and says he and store employees were negligent in leaving the spill on the floor and not barricading around it.

Morris' parents are seeking unspecified damages. Morris was a vice president of Standing Partnership public relations firm in St. Louis.
