Driver swerves to miss one car, hits another

A 22-year-old driver who said he tried to avoid rear-ending a vehicle directly in front of him swerved into another lane and hit another vehicle on Clear Lake Avenue at 10:15 a.m. Monday.

Cheryl A. Bloiak, 49, of the 2700 block of Cedar Pond said she was stopped at Dirksen Parkway and Clear Lake when her vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Zachary R. Sphar of 3300 block of Interurban Trail.

Both vehicles had to be towed, police said.

Sphar was cited for speeding and driving without liability insurance.
