Dog bites officer
A Springfield police officer sought medical attention after a German shepherd bit him as he and other officers served an order of protection in the 1100 block of North Eighth Street on Tuesday.
While police were retrieving a key from a man about 9:45 p.m., the officer felt a sharp pain on the back of his leg. He saw that the
dog had bitten him and ran off.
The officer was treated at Memorial Medical Center, and an animal control officer took the dog for testing.
