Fiery I-70 wreck kills two from Independence

Three family members from Independence and Sweet Springs, Mo., died in a fiery crash on Interstate 70 Friday night.

Judy K. Ritoch, 50, of Independence, was driving west in Cooper County around 9:30 p.m. and slowed her car in a driving lane. It was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer rig and caught fire. David M. Ritoch, 49, of Independence, and Eileen Ritoch, 77, of Sweet Springs, were also in the car. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Dustin W. Wright, 30, of Nobel, Ill., was not injured.
