Intoxicated man crashes into bus
75-year-old Springfield man was arrested Friday for driving while intoxicated after he collided with a school bus near Willard, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on Farm Road 105, two miles north of Willard.
The school bus belongs to the Willard School District, the patrol said.
Preliminary accident reports did not list whether any students were on board the bus, but only one person was listed as suffering minor injuries.
The patrol said Russell Shaw was driving north on the road when he hit the bus and then a tree just off the roadway. Springfield resident Norman Striebel, 58, who was riding in Shaw's vehicle, was taken to Cox South hospital for his injuries.
Shaw was taken to the Greene County Jail, where he was released after a 4-hour hold.
