One dead in crossover crash near Lawrence

One person died this afternoon in a cross-over crash on the Kansas Turnpike just east of Lawrence.

An eastbound Subaru Legacy crossed over into westbound traffic on Interstate 70 about 2:30 p.m. and hit a semi-truck. The driver of the Subaru died at the scene. The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured, Kansas Highway Patrol Capt. Joe Bott said.

The accident happened near the Lawrence service station at milepost 209. Westbound traffic lanes were closed and traffic was still being diverted onto shoulder about 3:30 p.m.
