Montgomery County crash injures three

Three people were recovering at St. John’s Hospital Monday following a weekend crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in Montgomery County.

Craig Steed, 23, of Hillsboro; Ashley Miller, 19, of Hillsboro; and Corwyn Fogler, 62, of Farina were in a 2008 Dodge Avenger that struck the semi. Steed and Miller were listed in critical condition and Fogler was in serious condition Monday.

The crash occurred south of Hillsboro at Buckeye Trail and North Ninth Avenue about 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

The semi, driven by Brian Brown, 36, of Hillsboro, was southbound on Buckeye Trail and pulling a grain trailer. Steed was westbound on North Ninth in the Dodge.

Brown failed to yield at the intersection, and the Dodge struck the trailer, according to the Illinois State Police. Brown was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

A police crash report indicated Brown was taken to Hillsboro Area Hospital with minor injuries.
