Motorcyclist killed after collision with car on I-470 in Lee's Summit

A Blue Springs man was killed today in a crash on Interstate 470 near View High Drive in Lee's Summit.

Andrew D. Hart, 44, was eastbound at around 1:30 p.m. on a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the center lane of I-470 when he came upon a 1993 Nissan that was stopped in the same lane, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. Hart tried to avoid the Nissan but struck the rear of the vehicle.

Hart was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at 4:36 p.m., the report said.

The driver of the Nissan, David C. Ponder, 44, of Springfield, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
