Van, tractor-trailer crash kills man

An 84-year-old Fair Play man died just before noon Monday when his van collided with a tractor-trailer rig on Missouri 32, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Hulse H. Towry was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:50 a.m. crash one-tenth of a mile west of Fair Play.

The crash occurred when Towry's northbound 1999 Dodge Caravan attempted to make a right turn onto Missouri 32 from a county road, went into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 2004 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Norman E. Counts, 31, of Sheldon.

Counts was not injured.
