Five injured in 2-car crash near Monett

Two children were among the five Lawrence County residents injured in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, a 2009 Chevrolet driven by Samuel Cox, 38, of Pierce City, was driving east on County Road 1070, three miles north of Monett, when it pulled into the path of a 1996 Dodge Dakota driven by Mitchell Chester, 53, of Monett.

The southbound Dakota then struck the Chevrolet broadside.

The accident was reported at 5:27 p.m. Saturday. The six people in the two vehicles were all wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

No injuries were reported for Samuel Cox, the driver, but three passengers -- Samantha Rosow, 34, and Jake Cox, 4, suffered minor injuries while Matthew Cox, 10, suffered moderate injuries.

Chester, the other driver, suffered minor injuries. A passenger, Sharon Mitchell, 57, suffered moderate injuries, the patrol reported.

The five with injuries were taken to Cox Monett Hospital.
