Motorcyclist dies after Plaza crash
A motorcyclist involved in a crash on the Country Club Plaza this morning has died, Kansas City police said.
The 28-year-old victim was riding to his job at a vehicle repair shop when he collided with a Mercedes about 8:15 a.m. on Broadway at Nichols Road. Police did not release his name, pending notification of relatives.
Police Sgt. Bill Mahoney said the victim was southbound on Broadway when the northbound Mercedes turned left in front of him. The motorcycle turned on its side and the bike and rider skidded separately into the passenger side of the Mercedes. Police were investigating whether the motorcycle's speed was a factor in the wreck.
The 79-year-old driver of the Mercedes was shaken up but not hurt in the crash, Mahoney said. Police were interviewing numerous witnesses to the crash, he said.
