Two injured in collision with truck
Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon when their car and a truck collided at 19th Street and Grand Boulevard.
The car caught fire after the collision, but someone who worked nearby brought out a fire extinguisher and the driver of the truck used it to douse the flames.
Both occupants of the car — a man and a woman — were taken by ambulance to a hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown, but the car was extensively damaged.
The truck driver, who was unhurt, said he was driving south on Grand and was in the middle of the intersection when the car, traveling east on 19th, struck the side of his truck. The car’s windshield was broken out and the front end of the car was crushed, but the occupants were able to get out under their own power.
