Cabdriver cited after two-vehicle accident

A Lincoln Yellow Cab taxi driver who was allegedly speeding and distracted because he was smoking a cigarette rear-ended a vehicle with his cab early Tuesday.

The accident occurred at MacArthur Boulevard and Washington Street at 5:57 a.m.

According to an accident report, the cabdriver, Daniel L. Castleman, 43, of the 1200 block of North Second Street, was eastbound on Washington.

A passenger in the cab, Angelique Lynch, 28, of the 300 block of Dickinson Road, told police Castleman took his eyes off the road when he tried to throw a cigarette butt out the window.

The cab rear-ended a vehicle driven by Thomas R. Robson, 24, of the 1200 block of Orchard Avenue, who said he was stopped at a red light.

Lynch was taken to Memorial Medical Center for leg pain. She was treated and released.

Castleman was cited for speeding.
