Woman struck by car
A Springfield woman was hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk at Wheeler and South Grand Avenue on Wednesday.
Barbara L. Ashford, 56, of the 2200 block of East Cedar Street was listed in good condition at Memorial Medical Center Wednesday night. She said she had the walk light when she was hit by the vehicle.
David J. Irwin, 70, of the 2100 block of East Stuart Street said he was northbound on Wheeler with a green light. He said he did not see anyone in the crosswalk when he turned.
Irwin was cited for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian. The incident occurred at 6:59 a.m. Wednesday.
